Training from
Vacuum & Thin Film Experts
Factory expert training on KDF and MRC batch sputtering equipment — taught by instructors with decades of hands-on experience. As part of the Kurt J. Lesker Company, KDF's training draws on a wider network of vacuum and thin film expertise available through KJLC's Vacuum Education resources. Sessions available at KDF's Rockleigh, NJ facility or at your site, customized to your team's needs and skill level.
Training Taught by Factory Experts
As an extension of KDF's support programs, training is available on both KDF and MRC batch sputtering equipment. All sessions are taught by factory experts with decades of direct experience on MRC and KDF equipment — representing hundreds of combined man-years of platform expertise.
KDF maintains fully operational models of both KDF and MRC-style equipment at its Rockleigh, NJ facility, providing a dedicated hands-on training environment. Course topics and technique levels cover the full range from beginner to advanced, and classes can be customized to fit your team's specific needs.
KDF's training program sits alongside the wider vacuum and thin film education network of the Kurt J. Lesker Company — including KJLC's Vacuum Education hub, giving KDF customers access to expertise well beyond a single equipment platform.

Custom Programs
KDF offers a variety of training topics and technique levels. Classes can be customized to fit your specific needs — from single-topic refreshers to comprehensive multi-day programs covering operation, maintenance, and process optimization.
600i Preventative & Corrective Maintenance Course
The KDF Preventative and Corrective Maintenance Course is designed for individuals who require a comprehensive knowledge base in understanding how KDF equipment works and the appropriate methodology for maintaining it. Skills gained in this course span beginner to advanced maintenance procedures and alignments.
This course is a combination of lecture and hands-on instruction, taught by factory experts at KDF's Rockleigh, NJ location. Participants work and are trained on a live 600i-style system. Learning is reinforced at the end of each day by practical application of the day's activities, as well as through written examinations.
Prerequisites: Course participants should have a general background in electronics and a strong mechanical aptitude.

The KDF Training Difference
Factory Expertise
KDF instructors are the same engineers and technicians who design, build, and service these systems — not third-party trainers. You learn from the people who know the equipment at the deepest level.
Hands-On with Live Systems
Training is conducted on fully operational KDF and MRC equipment — not simulators or mockups. Students perform real maintenance tasks and develop real muscle memory on the systems they'll actually operate.
Reduces Downtime
Properly trained operators and technicians catch issues earlier, perform PM procedures correctly, and resolve faults faster — directly translating to increased tool uptime and lower cost per wafer.
Small Class Sizes
Small session sizes ensure each participant receives individual attention from the instructor. This isn't a lecture hall — it's a focused, high-quality learning environment.
Customizable Programs
Standard course offerings can be modified, extended, or combined to address your team's specific knowledge gaps — whether you need a refresher on one subsystem or a full multi-day onboarding for a new team.
Exam & Validation
The 600i course includes written examinations and practical skill validations — giving supervisors confidence that trained staff have genuinely acquired the knowledge and skills covered, not just attended the session.
